The law of unintended consequences really ran riot around the whole Iraq fiasco

The most bizarre aspect of it all, imho, is not that the invasion of Iraq has had "unintended consequences", but that they were not seen beforehand. I mean, just how difficult was it to guess that the invasion would be easy but then there would be guerilla attacks on the US forces? Many of us said that would happen. How difficult was it to predict that Iraqis would increasingly resent the occupation as days go by and their countrymen continue to perish in the crossfire?

There is just no excuse for this incompetence. As another SI poster put it - America put its head in a bee hornet and is getting stung. Surprise... And their brilliant idea is to burn the hornet, with their head still in it.
