mightylakers is mainland Chinese. Even the ones who live here or communicate with us a lot via the Internet are very defensive about Taiwan and get very belligerent about Taiwan at the drop of a hat, which should give interesting insight into how the Chinese government feels about it.

The economies of mainland China and Taiwan are too closely intertwined for China to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. But that's looking it is as capitalists, which we are. Try looking at the situation as a communist, put yourself in hypothetical Chicom shoes.

That's because Chinese people are much more serious about Taiwan than the government. A lot of angers at the government right now with its soft attitude, many think that it is the corrupt officials that have vest interests with some TW enterprises holding things back.

Or let me put it this way, if there is a free election today in China, all the candidates will be spending most of the time saying how they will take Taiwan, and the most radical one will win!
