The main thing is that they don't do their jobs and have no culpability for the fact. The US spends more per student than any other country and our children are 19th in the world in math and sciences.

High school students should have to pass a scholastic aptitude test to earn their diploma. In New York state the minimum passing grade is 55. In Dallas where I grew up the minimum passing grade is 70.

The surest way to improve the schools is to fail the students that don't measure up and then the public outcry will demand change and a real public education.
