First of all, I'm not anxious to burn the flag. But I do believe that folks have the right to do so if they want to. If they choose to burn the flag in front of the VFW, that's their business. They probably won't do that because their beef is usually not with the vets. It's usually with the government. Our government doesn't always get it right, and it's up to the people to protest when they don't. If you believe in the right to protest, and you believe in the right to free speech, then you have to allow that someone might burn a flag as part of their protest. Would you allow pulling down a statue of Bush as part of a protest? How about hanging a politician in effigy? How about burning a politician in effigy? These are all statements of conviction which all may not agree with. In this country we have a constitution that guarantees rights to individuals. That's what freedom is all about. So once you pass a law abridging free speech, you are no longer as free. Freedom is messy, and many like yourself have difficulty with it, because you can't control the people the way you'd like in rigid conformity to your standard. Are you a Nazi? Or an American? I'm proud to live in a country where freedom of speech is allowed. Orca
