40 years is 'shorter term'? I hope people in the capitol hill has the same horizon as you do.

40 years is long enough for me to retire and shift the tax burden to my children.

I agree, but in the shorter term, say the next 40 years, I see our standard of living in the mean declining as China and other developing nations SOL rises.

I heard the same thing back in the 70s in regards to the rise of Japan.
