James:

Lurk here from time to time.

I have schawb also but don't use that account much at all. At least not for trading.

For trading I use Ameritrade, I had Datek before they were bought out by Ameritrade. As far as I know there isn't a limit of the number of shares you can buy, commission is always $10.99. I have bought 50k and 100k shares on very low priced stocks (sub 0.01) and the charge has always been $10.99.

James, I talked to my broker (Fidelity) and even though I'm in the $8 a trade level, the amount I was interested in buying kicked me into a higher commission calculation. I was told anything over 1,000 shares would be at this higher level. Didn't know that, as I don't typically invest in 13 cent stocks!

I'm reluctant to change brokers just for one purchase, so I wish you all well on the XTRN trade.
