I only have a problem if the imprimatur of government is upon the event. I have no idea what the original topic was, I merely thought your emotional addition of "normalcy" to the topic unwarranted, and strange. I still think that. It is the entanglement with government that matters to me, and whether the display or event covers many religions, or simply devotes itself to promoting one.

It was emceed (if that is the proper word) by the First Selectman. The staging was provided by the Parks and Recreation Dept. I don't know this, but the woman who was leading the carolers was probably a music teacher in one of the schools. Santa arrived by a firetruck provided by the Volunteer Fire Dept.

A little girl shrieked when Santa jumped off the truck, hard to tell whether she was excited or scared...
