LOL!....I was thinking exactly the same thought! I haven't followed MEDI, but only recently started following the company because of their FluMist product. I'm not certain from the past trading of MEDI how much of the share price of MEDI could be attributed to launching a very successful flu vaccine? I agree with you that the outcome of this season's FluMist sales is still uncertain, but looking more favorable for MEDI with the flu "news". FluMist doesn't seem to be the preferred method of a flu vaccine for several reasons. (cost, new "unknown" vaccine, and quite a few insurance companies do not pay for the vaccine.) From what I've heard, some patients are hesitant to use the FluMist vaccine because they are worried about using a new product, or one with a "live" virus. There are the issues of patients who do not qualify for the FluMist vaccine....which probably are the patients who really need to be vaccinated. IMO the flu season this year seems to be more of a "news event" than in past years, and some of the news reports seem to be more sensational than usual. It seems that the flu has passed around various communities every winter, and unfortunately children have always died every year from complications of the flu. Most primary care physicians are swamped during the winter months...that hasn't changed, but what has changed is the perception that this is a new, and more deadly form of the flu. The flu season seems to have started a little sooner than usual, but IMO "the verdict" is still out as to if this flu is any different than past flu seasons.
