You think America's Puritan heritage will ever reassert itself?

You know, hard work, self-sacrifice, honest dealings, religion? Or was it always an illusion?

Did the Romans have such an ethic at one time? They both had slave based economies to go along with their Ethics. I remember my father telling me about some dealings he had with one of the oldest copper merchants in England and their adherence to principles of scrupulous honesty.

That and a Coolie empire.

I believe it is safe to assume that US domestics hold most of the outstanding USD debt and much of the supposed USD assets. This is necessarily true for all large economies.

Jay, I believe that foreigners hold 50% of all US treasuries now. Staggering if I am correct. Perhaps Russ has the correct numbers.
