The simultaneous midday comments by Bush and Cheney came amid mounting signs of opposition to an attack among potential U.S. allies. The remarks signaled an administration effort to change the perception that the United States would act unilaterally, and possibly without warning, against Iraq. "I promise you that I will be patient and deliberate, that we will continue to consult with Congress, and of course, we'll consult with our friends and allies," Bush said in a speech at Central High School in Madison, Miss. Bush said he would consider "diplomacy, international pressure, perhaps the military." * Notice the deceptive tone. Using the UN sppeches to placate congress. Meanwhile, Bushies had long ago decided to invade Iraq no matter what, using the excuse that they had huge stockpiles of WMD's. In fact, that was their only excuse they were using in those days. They repeated it over and over and since the President is supposed to have the best intelligence in the world, some of which he is not required to share with anyone, whoever questioned hm would be calling him a liar. Meanwhile, on the eve of the invasion Bll Kristol was on TV admitting they may never never find any WMD's. That struck me as strange. If neocon insider Kristol thought there might be no WMD's, what was the rush and why force the Un to stop inspecting? The entire thing was a ruse. Yes Saddam could have been dangerous, but the fabirications they came up with were legion. To get the congressional vote for war, they basically promised them they'd take the moderate approach, through the Un and with allies. Instead, that was never ther intention, whether France had supported them or not. They didn't want the UN involved. They saw a pot of oil there and wanted it for themselves, and told us that that oil would pay for the war.
