First, while the last guy was regarded by many as a cretin, his name was Chretien.

While many Canadians now consider it "Miller Time", the new guy's name is Paul Martin.

Most Canadians aren't too sure what the difference between Martin and Chretien is. You see, Martin was "elected" by the Liberals as leader essentially without opposition... everybody else dropped out. So there wasn't really a rigorous analysis of Martin's positions... only in Canada could this happen.

They have changed the website for the Prime Minister's Office today to reflect Martin taking over. It provides some detail of Martin's policies and intentions.
www1.pm.gc.ca

A cynic will say that Martin had been running the financial side of the government anyway while Chretien was PM and that there won't be a lot of significant changes... that's closer to the truth than others will admit.

Martin is, by nature, more conservative than Chretien. Indeed, he could probably run (and win) as the leader of either major party.... again only in Canada!

He is a leader, not a dictator, and any reforms must somewhat still reflect liberal policies. While I can see some changes coming, "sweeping reforms" are just not the Canadian way and I don't see them happening.
