The US can walk over anyone in Africa they want to, in about five minutes. There is no military power there to speak of. But what do we do instead....

We actively supported Mobutu in Zaire for about 25 years then turned to the sanction route to try to get rid of our wayward creation. The subsequent father and son Kabila act presided over wars and a social disintegration estimated to have killed millions.

And we ain't done diddly about it. Nothing, nada, just some lame efforts at diplomatic intervention.

We won't see US military intervention on any appreciable scale in most places in the world with gross human rights violations. It is selective and arbitrary, merged with other security and economic interests.

Like most countries with substantial military, economic or political power behave.

FWIW, if our criteria was WMD, human rights, support for terrorism and energy concerns, Iran was a much more sensible target in the ME.

>>>"Why isn't the US leading a force to dislodge Mugabe before he lets more thousands or millions starve under his bankrupt regime?"<<<
Maybe because most of Africa views Mugabe as a hero.

Most of the Arab world sees Saddam as a hero as well, but that didn't stop the US from invading Iraq, did it?

Here is another answer to the question - Because Mugabe is not sitting on loads of oil.

Face it - The invasion of Iraq has NOTHING to do with US saving Iraqis from their dictator out of the goodness of its collective heart.

Listen to the Iraqis. They are far more realistic about the intentions of the US.
