Now let's be honest, it has one thing to do with saving Iraqis from the bad nasty man Saddam- it makes good PR. I don't think we can overlook that nexus. Of course that nexus came late to the party, after the WMD nexus and the 9/11 nexus failed- but still, there IS the PR connection.

You're making too much of the oil thing, in terms of riches out of Iraq for America. Middle east oil countries are in the business of selling oil. They have no choice, no matter who or what is in power there. Most, if not all, Middle East oil producing countries would be broke within a month, if not sooner, from stopping oil sales to the west. Where's the oil threat? Who is going to stop selling oil? Who could afford to stop selling oil?
