Laura > I have "taken a fancy" to you, Mr. Sennett

Please call me Searle, and I will call you Laura, if I may? And it's not often that young ladies (I presume you are one) tell me such a thing. <blushing>

"You make me feel so young,
You make me feel there are songs to be sung
Bells to be rung and a wonderful fling to be flung
And even when I'm old and grey
I'm gonna feel the way I do today
Cos' you make me feel so young."

> Also, you have wisdom beyond your years, I can readily see, in terms of international finance.

BTW, I'm not a spring chicken. Anyway, thanks for the compliment --- I love compliments. <Blushing again>

> you have the advantage of an outside US perspective free of corporate news media propaganda

Yes and no. I agree that I do have the perspective of distance but CNBC runs for many hours every day next to me and I also listen to Bloomberg on satellite radio when I go to bed. The world is very small these days and, strangely enough, because of TV and the internet, many foreigners are actually proxy Americans.

> the new thread that bears my name as founder, in fact. Visit, please, anytime you wish!

Thank you very much, I will do, but I probably will not post. Strangely enough, although most of my posts are politically oriented, I prefer to be on a financial thread, like this one, which I know something about. At least, that way, I feel when I do post about gold-related matters, it's not completely "hot air".

Keep well

Hi Laura, I agree with you about Searle as i've enjoyed his perspective on a number of issues (although i admire him only in the manliest of ways, and not with the thinly veiled lust you shamelessly displayed with 'i've taken a fancy to you, Mr. Sennett' (g)).

But one thing you did not touch on was his considerate treatment of those with alternate viewpoints. If we forget to maintain that respect for others (even when it's not reciprocated) our posts are reduced to 'preaching to the choir' instead of exchanges from which we can broaden perspectives (including our own).

I suggest you question the value of making comments such as 'so-and-so is a silly little...'

(And i take the time to make this suggestion only because I suspect we share similar beliefs on a number of issues, and i'd like to see those views effectively spread, and not marginalized by our own inability to communicate them in a respectful manner.)

enough preaching from me...

John
