I wasn't talking about the US press style - Europe has tabloids and much of the same nonsense in print and on TV. My interest in the article was the relative lack of interest in social problems that literally kill human beings right in front of others, with little or no interest at all.

The proportion of homeless in most major European cities is much lower than what I see when I visit the US.

Judging by what I see on Dutch TV compared to the US primetime schedule, the percentage of crap reality shows and tabloid exposes is probably 1/2 or 2/3 as much at most. I haven't spent enough time anywhere else in Europe lately to say for sure what French TV or German TV is like nowadays.

I am trying to maintain my record of never having watched a reality TV episode from start to finish in any country. They usually last as long as it takes me to get my hands on the remote....

Thank goodness for the Law and Order franchise.
