Which is exactly why I don't think they have anything to do with each other. The only thing they have in common is being allegedly illegally held. The rationale for holding them is entirely different. And the war paradigm has totally changed.

I happen to be a big FDR fan but recognize the internment as one of the low points of his admin.

I don't see the racism connection with Padilla, though. For the racism thing to hold, we would have to be rounding up all the whatever ethnic group it is that he is. Or maybe you're talking about rounding up the Muslims? Bush made it quite clear early that we weren't going to do that. One of the few moves he made that I heartily applaud.
