Secret Diplomacy Won Libyan Pledge on Arms
By PATRICK E. TYLER

The B&B dream team convinces another terrorist regime to change its ways.
This is a pretty gigantic win for Bush and Blair.

Politically, of course it all has to be another huge mistake.
Shockingly, neither Dean, nor Clark, nor Kerry, nor the NYT have issued a single complaint about the lack of UN Security Council involvement.
They will. Give them a bit more time to figure it out.

Intelligence officials said that after the October visit, the Libyans became convinced that much was known about the weapons programs. As a result, they said, the December visit was even more productive because the Libyans were more open.

This is one example where UN sanctions actually worked, but
coincidentially this knowledge came after the fall of Iraq. Crucial information could certainly have been revealed in the millions of discovered documents imo.
