Making cannibals into catholics is easy- you are simply replacing one irrational system with another, but replacing an irrational system with a rational one IS a problem- and that is the problem in the ME. Replacing rulers who rule by fear, with democracy, when the wish for democracy has not arisen within the population, and where the population has no cultural tradition allowing them to incorporate the idea into an existing frame of reference is such a funny idea, I can only imagine it comes from people who know absolutely nothing about either the American or the French revolution, and the relative problems of each, and why the two revolutions were so very different. Those who do not know their history are doomed to be ineffectual idiots.
