To the thread,

A Merry Christmas to all the US Marines and everyone serving in the US Armed Forces.

My daughter and her husband are Marines and served in Kuwait and Iraq, respectively, this year. Son in law saw combat in Nasiriyah and participated in, among other actions, the diversionary attack during the Lynch rescue.

We are very glad to have our kids home for Christmas this year, but our hearts go out to the families of other servicemen and women who are still serving there and in other places far away from home. And we are really, really thoughtful of those parents whose kids won't be there for the holidays ever again in this world, our prayers are with them this holiday season.

Wife and I met quite a few Marines through our kids, sometimes they brought friends along on leave who didn't have any other place to go. I must say all the young Marines I've met are outstanding, they are the best!

I didn't serve in the Armed Services myself (almost Air Force, but that's a long story). I am proud of the fact that I didn't participate in anti-war protests in college during the Vietnam War, at the time I couldn't stand how the veterans were treated on their return from that war and was vocal about it. Most of my friends were in the service during that period and I went out of my way to be their friend and help them adjust when they came back.

Best,
Roebear
