We must copy Japan and Europe by testing every cow slaughtered.

Hehe. Over nine years only 30,000 cows out of a third of a BILLION have been tested. And over nine years McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, grocers, etc. have shoved literally billions of servings of this beef out of their doors to consumers. And beef is not the only source of danger here. I blame producers and politicians only inasmuch as they claimed to be selling "Grade A" beef without a real clue as to what exactly they were selling. The current system does not allow a reasonable person to make this claim with any sort of confidence. "Grade A" truly means nothing.

But, of course, I think in a society with a moral framework that consists merely of human legislation, we can blame politicians for acting like scoundrels no more than we can blame snakes for acting like snakes. We as individuals bear ultimate responsibility for what we willingly take into our bodies. I would like to see a greater awareness develop amongst Americans regarding this critical responsibility. We feed our children, who trust us without reservation. Conducting our lives in willful ignorance on this issue is potentially a great sin against this trust.
