<<Did Bush have a right to make this gamble? Depends who you ask. How this gamble will be perceived will be determined by his success. We can't turn around and run now, can we?>>>
Nope, cannot run.
There are in the US 2 million miles of pipelines, 7700 major dams, 75,000 lesser dams, over 100 operating nuclear plants.
Another 38000 miles of pipe lines and 275,000 miles of distribution lines will be added by 2013.
We are at the mercy of any free-roving terrorist and will remain so until some new affordable defenses are produced.
And none of those will be foolproof.
So its them (the terrorists) or us - especially our economy and future
Failure is not an option

No, the subject was the comparison between Iraq and Germany. You can change the subject if you wish, but other than the absurd comparisons made to Germany by some people on this thread, there is little worth discussing about Germany per se. Germany in 1939 had an incredible industrial capability waiting to be cranked up and thrown into war. Iraq in 2003 was a broken down third world country that had no domestic industrial capability, no cash flow to throw into large scale military overhaul and buildup, and no standing in the world as a global industrial giant. The comparisons are bogus.
