Well, GGM is a good buddy of FCR. An apologist, even. Can't expect him to use his conscience in any reasonable manner, certainly not to list El Barbudo's crimes against the Cuban people:

The Latin American authors I admire are people like Guillermo Cabrera Infante, author of Three Trapped Tigers, who signed the February 2, 1989 letter to FCR and has been a constant thorn in FCR's side. A Marxist of the Marx Brothers kind. With your penchant for puns, humor, and creative use of language and words, I suspect that, like me, you thoroughly enjoyed TTT. If not, I highly recommend it.

Here's GCI's perfect and sly nabokovian reference in TTT to Laughter in the Dark, which has the best introductory three or so paragraphs in Western Literature:

I'm giving the foreign policy and political debates a rest for the rest of the year. What the f***, it's a beautiful day, nothing is happening, who gives a flying doughnut about mad cows, Husseins, AQ, OBL, may they all rot in hell while I take some well-deserved rest in the company of my friends and family.

No one is proposing to "rule the world", it is not worth the trouble, nor is anyone promoting military intervention as the primary means of promoting democracy. You hyperventilations over "neoconicity" are silly........
