It has nothing to do with hate, rather with common sense. If everyone can intermarry & gain legal benefits that accompany that relationship it makes a farce of marriage. That's not healthy for children. The purpose of marriage is to provide a secure environment for raising a family. Don't bother throwing religious arguments my way, I'm about as religion neutral as anyone you'll ever meet. Disagreements of faith has been the basis for most slaughters in history of world. The few positives derived from religious belief can be obtained instead from personal philosophy--that way we cut out middlemen(clerics) who usually do more harm than good.
