From AP Hamas has taken responsibility for most of the more than 100 suicide bombings against Israelis in the fighting. But Thursday's suicide bombing was claimed by two other groups, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Islamic Jihad militants warned at funerals Friday for the Palestinians killed in the airstrike that attacks against Israelis would not abate. An armed and masked member of Islamic Jihad told thousands of participants at one funeral that the group planned more bombings. How these folks can be completely separated from Hamas is beyond my comprehension. Does Israel's proposal to not attack Hamas really make sense? Islamic Jihad was founded in the extremist Iranian Islamic movement. They now operate with support from Hizbollah and Iran. That means Lebanon and Syria support them too. The PLO is (with arafat) another bed full of extremists. They are surely tied together and coordinate many activities. Perhaps this is an Israeli divide and conquer strategy.
