I have no idea how you leaped to that from anything I said.

"The pretense that all morality must flow out of a 1300 or 5000 year old book is absurd on the face of it. If this were true, how did societies survive before those books were written or before their word was spread?"

I have made no such pretense. ... (1300 or 5000)... I spent months arguing that moral ideals are abstract, perfect, and exist in eternity. Not derived from a book, the evolution of thought, or whatever.

"If this were true, how did societies survive before those books were written or before their word was spread?

I am a believer. I believe that messengers have been chosen by God to bring the truth about moral direction to the rest of us. Thousands of them actually ... to all times and places throughout history... which aint even a drop in the ocean of eternity.

However, people throughout history have either been greatful for hearing the message or they have linched the messengers. Why? Because, they already know the truth in their hearts. They either view the message as a bridge from their hearts to a way to live in the world or they want to burn the bridge. Some peops are not nice...no body is offended by the truth without cause.

"Do you believe I or Karen or JLA are immoral monsters that eat children for Thanksgiving dinner?"

Huh???
