If it is something you make up as you go and there is no accountability, then it is meaningless. Where would this accountability come from. Well, it comes from laws. If you break the law you go to jail. It comes from society, which shuns or otherwise punishes those of which it disapproves. And it comes from God, if such a thing exists. I live under the same laws and in the same society that you do, so we are equally subject to that accountability. And if there is a God, we will be equally subject to that accountability. So I don't see how my morals have less accountability than those of a believer. The accountability is the same.
