"Well, it comes from laws. If you break the law you go to jail. It comes from society, which shuns or otherwise punishes those of which it disapproves."

That is interesting. The only ethics you have comes from 'laws' or from society which punishes offenders. So, where do laws come from? Where do societies mores come from.

You of course will be punished for 'breaking' laws. Your ethic is 'the law' so whatever laws exist under the authority of government you will support, whether it is the Tora, the TOW, or the tradition of society. It matters not whether it is cannabalism or dancing nude around the May Pole.

lol...

"And if there is a God, we will be equally subject to that accountability. So I don't see how my morals have less accountability than those of a believer."

The difference is that believers hold them selves personally responsible whether the govt laws or societal traditions approve or not.

"Where would this accountability come from. Well, it comes from laws. If you break the law you go to jail."

You don't go to jail for breaking every law on the books, also, prior to going to jail you would presumably show up in some court and the likelihood of you going to jail would be diminished if you presented your case cleverly i.e. hired a competent lawyer. Your ability to hire competent counsel would be further increased if you were able to accumulate huge amounts of cash by either legal or illicit means. Catholics have had the same system in place with God for centuries and big cash donors have always been able to get around the laws with marriages annulled and special indulgences so they don't waste a lot of time in purgatory.

So you see Karen accountability is clearly not the same and with either the law of man or the law of God cash is king.
