que, You're talkin' to the wrong guy to tell me to "be careful". This index I follow of 7 large cap E&P companies, the S&P Oil Exploration index, just keeps marching up with no end in sight. It had been following the OSX pretty closely but has disconnected from the OSX in the last few months, see finance.yahoo.com^GSPOILP&t=1y&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=^osx . Just today, in the face of the crashing January natty contract, it went up another 1.5%.

There are other things going on in the E&P world other than the weather. Like 50% annual project ROI's, 2 month payouts on wells, etc., even with "just" $5 gas.

I am no longer "all-in" as I was very close to being when we had $7 gas, but still very heavily margined.

You may be missing the forest for the trees. The next major upmove in the OSX will not be based on weather patterns IMHO but a fundamental reassessment of the long-term oil price trajectory in a world where the dollar is trash and Asian economies are surging.

You are correct in reducing holdings headed into what appears to be a pretty bearish gas withdrawal. I have done the same although I bought some coal today since Santa didn't leave any in my stocking.

Glad to see you've tempered your all out bull stance from last year. Moving in and out appears to be the play for now.
