Sorry. I have read the New Testament. You got sold a bill of goods but were given an empty crate.

There is nothing wrong with choosing a simple life. There is plenty wrong with being lazy and slothful.

There is also nothing wrong with honest hard work that produces abundance. There is plenty wrong with using corrupt influence to increase wealth or with using your wealth to oppress or abuse others.

There are parables in the NT that address these situations. You might try re-reading the New Testament as an adult seeking wisdom. I bet you would get a totally different message from it.
