Amercian Spirit also neglects to note that very few of those potential voters would have actually cast ballots and that Bush lost potential votes in the Florida Panhandle (where the time differential meant that the polls were open for an additional hour) when the networks made an early call for Gore in Florida, thereby discouraging voters in the Florida Panhandle from actually voting.

Whining about the 2000 election may energize the Democratic base, but my guess is that turns off most everyone else.

Bush won the "slickest cheater" award you mean. No major newspapers looked into the voter roll scrubbing only the sideshow of the hanging chads. Those networks who investigated were stopped by Jeb's denials and the fact that the coverup and Supreme Court fix was already in.

The voter roll scrubbing cheated Gore out of thousands of votes, the recount stoppage didn't necessarily cheat him out of any.
