'As Rumsfeld admitted in Congressional testimony, these suicide fighters "are not deterrable". Period."

First not all terrorists are "suicide fighters". PERIOD!
They are, at best, a small fraction of all terrorists.

Second, how about putting your distorted use of that quote
in proper context.........

Testimony of U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld before the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding Iraq (Transcript)
<font size=4>
.....Some have argued that Iraq is unlikely to use weapons of mass destruction against us because, unlike terrorist networks, Saddam Hussein has a return address.<font size=3> Mr. Chairman, there's no reason to have confidence that if Iraq launched a WMD attack against the United States that it would necessarily have a return address.
<font size=4>
There are ways Iraq could easily conceal responsibility for a WMD attack. They could give biological weapons to a terrorist network to attack us from within. Suicide bombers are not deterrable. They end up dead, and therefore the problem of being deterred is not something they worry about.....

MSI,
So since preemption is verboten we might as well take their blows. They will gain new respect for us as we allow ourselves to be destroyed. Give me a clear shot at bin laden or his cronies wherever they are and i will take it any day. Death is the only thing these maniacs understand. And personally i dont care how many we have to kill to protect even one american and eliminate the threat.
When they are crushed they will stop fighting. There were no kamikaze attacks from japan after the surrender and no one believed those fanatics would ever surrender either. Problem is that we are not too tough but that we are
not tough enough. If i were president, Tikrit probably would have been razed awhile ago as an example if it seemed that it would do some good. That makes Bush, Cheney, and Rummy moderates, i suppose. mike
