"Only a lunatic would rule out the possibility that God guided her actions."

Nowadays we treat people who suffer from hallucinations. If you prefer, you can believe we are treating people whom are actually hearing God's voice, and not just suffering from hallucinations. You might wonder why the voices often stop as long as they remain on appropriate medication. Or you might not wonder at all.

But nothing to stop you from believing as you wish. They can seek relief from you, or they can seek it from some "lunatic" with a life-time of studying and treating such disorders.

None of this is meant to detract from her incredible qualities: her sense of belief and purpose--her devotion and her character. But I think it is very dangerous to revive a belief in voices as being from actual Gods or demons. You cannot treat the one seriously without the other. And I would like to hope that the age of hanging and burning young girls is gone from the earth. If that makes me a "lunatic" then I am happy to be one.
