Carl added a lot of valuable information to the thread about the technological aspects of the DRAM world. I valued and still value that perspective. Don Green brings lots of valuable articles and outlooks to the thread. I value that as well.

My problem with Carl is best exemplified by his post of August 2000 that I reposted yesterday. I just don't think it was valuable for him to declare that it was his job to tell everyone "i told you so". It ruined what credibility he had. This whole business is a million shades of gray. I don't know how it will play out three years from now, but the only certainty is that Rambus will not be at $30/sh. on 12/31/06.

The ultimate key to Rambus success as an investment may have little to do with RDRAM as a superior technology, but instead to the amazing leveraging ability of an IP company with a solid patent portfolio covering both past and current uses. What will Mr. Market pay for that?

For me it is not about the technology, it is about the cash flow.

StillHolding:

while I agree with your conclusions, one only has oneself to blame for self directed investment decisions. Even if the "other party" is criminal in its' intent or actions. A painful lesson to live, but what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger.

Happy New Year, m-go-blu!

Hi "stillholding"; Re: "Think how many people he may have influenced to sell out below 10."

This would be a hell of a note if most of those people who sold out "below 10" didn't (a) have further opportunities to buy far below 10, and / or (b) have previous opportunities to sell far above 10. I was saying that Rambus was a bad long term idea back when it was above $100 per share. If you'd listened to me then you'd still be thanking me:
finance.yahoo.com

And how long have you been holding RMBS?

StillHolding, July 23, 2000
...
I am a LTBH, but I have a lot of the same stocks you hold, RMBS, SNDK, SSTI, and I would like to add and trim a bit, but not with the same energy (grin) you put into it.

Here's how you've done since then, assuming that you're still holding (LOL):

07/23/00 01/01/04
RMBS $89.75 $30.70
SNDK 68.81 61.20
SSTI 27.00 11.00

If you'd sold RMBS back in July 23, 2000 you'd be considerably better off.

Most of BILOW's posts are full of scorn for other people.
He scorns their expertise whether it be engineering, marketing, sales, legal analysis, etc.
He scorns the Mom, Pop (and apple pie).
He scorns Rambus.
He mocks people who disagree with the trash he posts.
He admits no error of his own making.

I could continue...

YOu know, I have to say, people are responsible for their own due diligence...everybody pulls the trigger to buy and sell themselves...my wins were my own, my losses my own, if i allowed myself to be influenced, then i learned a lesson. If you read any of the market wizards books, the genius investors/traders all blew out their accounts at least once. So it's not criminal--what's criminal is something like Enron.
