marcos, speaking of British Columbia, Getty Copper (GTC.V) which I mentioned here a little while back as a speculative play to watch, is still making significant gains on fluctuating volume. They have the only copper in the region near the Highland Valley copper mine which is just about mined out. I see Highland had a change in ownership recently and that the new management has been talking to Getty. It was reported that an exploration JV had been negotiated, but further investigation seems to point to little more than an expression of interest.

Still GTC's chart is encouraging, and they do actually have a nice lot of copper ore even if it is in BC.

What aboud Boleevar Res and their Choco Choco? You don't god de hotz fer dat? Beeega podendial. So dey zay.

Columbia: Kidnappers will farc you up the keisteramos with coca-loca payola.

Guyana:Lost in the jungle, but at least nobody bugz you.

Argentina: Between the currency and the crooks in suits they have more holes in their foot than a sieve. Add a dash of communistero bitters and it is an interesting cocktail.

Peru: Placating the shining path voting blok will hurt them.

Chile: Corruption a Nord Americano can understand. I know Chileans who tell me that there is no corruption in Chile. If that is like no corruption in Canada, then they have it down to a dull roar, but it is hard to say no. Except if you work in gov't and are underpaid. That we can work with.

Panama: We like the nothing doing soon policy.

Costa Rica: We are imitating Panama's imitation of us, but occasionally our friends can mine, if they show the right attitude.

Mexico: Duties are high. Perhaps higher than you can believe on certain occasions. It depends on the particular government agent. We have new mining law. Trust us. Still an exit strategy has to be drawn up.

Honduras El Salvador etc..: Military troubles are behind you for now, others are in front, see Mexico.

Brazil: If you are Brazilian, and know somebody then it's great. Layer upon layer of regulation and ownership problems. Confiscation of patents, and land always an issue. Money repatriation never was on. Today? hmmmm.. ownership laws have changed, but what about duty etc...

Vz: the right payola gets you what you want, for one admin session. But the courts are capricious.. deep pockets are in order. Short term placers are a possibility.

Canada: depends on la provinca and your native tongue, politics. Conservative? In Ontario.. mining is a maybe. Elsewhere? Depends on the goverment du jour. NDP.. no way except expensive buddy.

All SA countries including Mexico have killer bandits in the bush/cactus country. Pays to pay attention to that. Security is an important issue. It's not for Pollyannas.
