From early childhood people find themselves at odds with a world that gives them boo boos and in which they find themselves in contention with others for resources.

Children who grow up in a family of haves, being told that they are superior to others and entitled to whatever pleases them, occasionally become averse to any type of struggle or suffering. The descriptor we use for such children is “spoiled”. Unfortunately, no matter how much their parents wish to shelter them, these children, like all others do struggle and suffer to understand and deal with their existence. When they are repeatedly told that they can’t possibly be suffering or struggling because of who they are, they become schizophrenic and potentially suicidal when faced with real suffering that cannot be ignored. As adults these people are simply a mess for the rest of us to deal with. They see no point in personal character. Since they are entitled anyway, they consider character something for the have-nots to develop in order to instill hope.

On the other hand we normally teach children to stand up to and face personal trials and tribulations because it strengthens character and prepares them for adulthood. Among other good traits it instills is hope.

It is a problem for society when the spoiled children start preaching to society that hopelessness is an entitlement.

”You want to suffer? Do it. But give other people the right not to.

Society does not deny YOU the right to your hopeless outlook by designating assisted killings as illegal. It sends the message to the rest of society that you are deviant, and that valuing hope is worth while … must suck to be you.
