And who is it that supplies there children with the guns they use to kill each other.
And who supplies the despair to give them this incentive to kill.
And who denies them the drugs to relieve their pains of violence and disease.

WE DO!!

ralph, don't believe everything you read...

...and certainly don't believe ANYTHING you see on CNN!

I have worked in 5 different North African nations over the past 7 years and have had very good experiences.
Yes there are political instabilities and short sighted dictators in many small African countries, but don't paint the entire continent with the same brush.

There are very real profits to be made in the mineral rich "dark continent".
To issue blanket statements about Africa, as you have done, is to reveal your own instability and short-sightedness.

Marc Faber is a Swiss economist who has lived in Hong Kong for 25 years and studies Asia.
He cares little about Africa.
I think you could find a far better authority on Africa.

A quote from Dr. Faber's most recent "market comment":
The problem I have is that I don't find many bargains today anywhere, except maybe among precious metals, which are partly commodities and partly the only really "hard currencies", whose supply cannot be increased meaningfully. Platinum prices are at a 23-year high. Thus, it is entirely possible that also gold and silver will fly to the upside in the next two years.
If that gold is in Africa, who cares?

Don't close your eyes to opportunity. ;-)

Well I assume that you have never visited Africa, let alone lived there. Eva and others were all pontificating that Africa is one big pit. It would be like going to the US at the time of the Watts riots and saying America is a riot infested den of racism and gangs.
Now I agree with you about Mugabe, where is 007 when we need him. Mandela is in full active retirement.
Of course I can live with your opinion, I just don't want you to influence others unduly.

emerson:

<<Mandela is a plain and simple MORON>>

I'm sorry but a comment like that makes you look like the moron. You may not agree with Mandela's politics and know very little about his achievements, but to call one of the great leaders and statesmen of the 20th century a moron is pathetic.

South Africa has 43 million people, of whom 6 million are white. Did you expect this minority to maintain control for ever through the continuation of apartheid? And after 200 years of colonial and oppressive rule, do you think everything should be fine and dandy in a new democracy only 10 years after the first ever free election? What planet are you on?

And how is Mugabe going to invade a country with 4 times the population of Zimbabwe and much greater military strength and sophistication? As much as you claim to be against it, you've been reading (and believing) that American propaganda again. :^)
