But he has an attitude I can agree with. I'm not so much a fan of Dean as some sort of Hollywood/Washington image, as his courage to call gov't and machine politicians to account, which no one else of any stature has deigned to do. The GOP are secretive, lockstep and dangerous, and the Dems are jellyfish and useless. The Bush arrogance is a disregard for human life, in favor of ivory-tower neocon strategies. Re: "PNAC/Neocon conspiracy", there doesn't need to be a carefully planned conspiracy, to have an entire group of power-mongers moving together in their own self-interest. That's the essence of what the Framers knew would happen with lack of representation in gov't. We do have an extraordinary number of neocon cohorts who have schemed for decades on the M.E., and are seeing themselves in power and so eager to bring their plans about they feel they can bypass certain niceties, like due process and the truth. The situation in Iraq is an issue because we did not have that debate. Sure, they had history of WMD programs, but were subjugated and being inspected. Instead we were force-fed nonsense and falsehoods, and our esteemed reps in Congress, at least 75 of them, were told to expect remotely-piloted planes carrying nukes or germ warfare to the US if they didn't move immediately. These were outright lies. This kind of hijacking of the process is nothing short of criminal. This behavior creates cynicism, to the extent that many are afraid of further strong-arm political tactics, such as "WMDs" and leading terrorists to be discovered in an October surprise, without transparency, conflicting claims, etc. As far as Saudi princes, they are the enemy of the US, and shouldn't be kissing presidential envoys in Crawford. The 10% of US oil gotten from Saudi Arabia can be threatened with a simple announcement of any of dozens of conservation and alternate energy programs on the boards, instead of the nonsense programs to push the issue into the year 2020. The ME problem is exacerbated by US involvement in the Arab-Israeli conflict, which will become less important if the US withdraws military involvement and hands that over to the UN. The terrorist state that 911 is a direct result of US involvement in the ME.
