Having lived with a "scientist" for a number of years you don't have to worry about throwing anything out.

Oh, I'm not worried about our intrepid scientists. I do worry, though, about how politicians and voters deal with the scientific uncertainty of the products the scientists turn out. We rely so much on government to fund science and to, if not foster, at least not stymie progress with legislation. Politics can easily set us off on some tangent based on bogus science or cut productive progress off at the knees based on fear or uncertainty.
