As owners of both sites, we're not going to tout one site over the other.

Suffice it to say that they're both similar but different.

The main difference, from the technology standpoint is that iHub has a ton more features and allows people to post (a limited number of times per day) for free. The same will be true of SI before too much longer.

iHub, however, doesn't have a lot of things that SI has, like portfolios, quotes, and charts.

I don't know how long any of those items will remain part of the site, though. I'm not optimistic about quotes and charts because we get them via a feed from InfoSpace, and it really looks like they're planning to abandon them. Chart problems aren't getting fixed at all on that end. And portfolios wouldn't do much good without a quotes feed.

My own philosophy is that a message board should just be a message board, and that there are plenty of other places to get free quotes and charts, and to store portfolios. iHub's growth seems to highlight that a message board can get a lot of traffic just being a message board.

What's likely to happen is that we're either going to completely lose charts, quotes, and portfolios, or find an alternate source for them and not offer them as a free part of the site anymore. I've been pricing them, and for a site with as much traffic as this one has, they're not even close to being cheap.
