I heard a guy from Challenger last week, saying we won't see improvement in employment to the 90's level until at least 2008, I think he must have factored in another term for Bush jr. in his projections.

what industry sector is it ?? the chip equipment sector has backlog for their orders - the internet sector recovered impressively .... of course there are cases of dead wood elimination
