fromBermuda, I right clicked my Word2000 desktop icon, then 'properties' and 'advanced' and found a box checked that says 'run in separate memory space'.

I have no idea, but you could check what your setting is.

I have tried a clean boot on the Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1 from MICROSOFT SUITE 2001 but I could not get a clean boot because the box LOAD STATUP GROUP ITEMS would not remain unchecked. Then I tried a reinstall anyway. It did not help. Somehow it also messed up my Money program so I had to reinstall that too. The MONEY program now works fine.

If you find a solution that works with Word let me know?

Gary

First of all, let me commend you for giving us plenty of info to go on. That makes it much easier to try to tell what's going on. Here's a couple of things you might try but it may be simpler to just uninstall and reinstall Word. That very well might take care of the problem. Some vital part may have become corrupt and it could be hard to trace down.

On the dvd/cd issue try right-clicking your my computer icon and going to the hardware/device manager tab and then the device manager button. Expand the dvd/cd drive and right click your drive and choose properties. There can be a yellow or red x or question mark. If that's the case, then go to the troubleshoot button. If nothing appears wrong I'd go back to where you right clicked the drive and uninstall it. Then reboot and it should be reinstalled automatically.
