I knew you'd see that it was a cleverly worded item intended to be deceptive as soon as you re-read it. The author of one of MoveOn's finalist is the same as the author of that ad, which certainly suggests a bias on the author's part, but then what would you expect- -MoveOn is hardly a Bush fan. That is essentially what I said: "What it says is that the person who produced that ad also had an ad -- a different one, though one probably genuinely hated by Bush Republicans, as opposed to gleefully seized upon -- voted as a finalist in the MoveOn contest." I'm glad you write the words "bias on the author's part" with a full awareness that to ask the entrants of the contest to develop the anti-Bush ads to be unbiased would be silly. The point of the MoveOn ad that wins the vote will be to help to defeat Bush in the election. (I hope the actual one by the same guy (as opposed to the one Drudge tried to mislead people into thinking was at issue), titled Army of One, is not chosen. I have taste/judgment questions about that one, too (though of a different sort). In relation to a matter referred to in PM, my familiarity with MoveOn is primarily though material in posts by Duray & Co. A fair comparison, I think, would be letting Adolph Hitler pick your reference material on Judaism Hitler again? Goodness, his name is flung into the conversation a lot by RWers! Is the reason they're playing (and pretending) Hitler-Gotcha with MoveOn that the right thinks it should have a monopoly on comparisons to Hitler? And Osama bin Laden? I confess that i don't read any of Duray's posts. At some point I concluded he was, it was my impression, a paranoid of some sort. (Disclosure: I am not a health care professional.) Avid ideologues sometimes give that impression, of course. There are plenty of nutso RW posts on SI, btw. On Wednesday, Dave from the Supermarket is coming here to fix my computer. I hope it lasts until then.
