The media of Maureen Dowd's generation might go gaga over a "Kennedy dynasty" rerun, but I don't perceive any interest in the under-35 crowd for one. I know that some of the next generation Kennedys - Robert's and Teddy's kids in particular - are active in state politics, but do you think any of them would succeed on the national level?

Its Jeb not Zeb but he is not going to run right after W. Are there any republican governors other than Pataki who could become national figures. I cant think of any right now. As far as senators they probably will get a group together much like the dem bunch. Guys with plastic hair, war records, ties to interest groups that support the GOP. And then there are folks in the admin itself. Powell is still the most attractive as a candidate and in order to win he will have to separate himself somewhat from bush without offending the faithful. I just saw Chuck Hagel last night--he seemed like he had potential. And or course the gadflys--mccain, & giuliani mike

nice review in philadelphia inquirer on specter and toomey for Senate this year... one reason given for Bush backing Specter is less democrat turnout if he runs.. If Toomey runs (very conservative) they expect a much large democrat turnout to defeat Toomey.. If so then I would say they are really worried about ability to carry Pa.
