An interesting smoking gun is how quickly they passed the PATRIOT ACT after 9/11 happened. Like they didn't already write that act well before 9/11 (wasn't it 100s of pages in length and quite complex too)?!? It passed just days after 9/11.

I wouldn't count on the American people suddenly waking up to the truth about what happened on 9/11. You're giving those mind numbed morons way too much credit. Look at how many you had to argue with about WMD in Iraq before we attacked them last Spring. I mean it was truely amazing to debate these fools who had brought the government propaganda and reguritated it so easily. I'd love to pull up some of those posts now about how urgent it was that we attack Iraq and prevent the use of WMDs. What a joke it looks like now. But, these clowns aren't going to suddenly wake up and realize that 9/11 is all a big farce too. These people are too programmed and too brain-dead to look at the evidence.

The "powers that be" can get away with what they get away with because they KNOW the American people as a whole are just plain stupid and will go along with any plan they concoct, no matter how hair-brained or detrimental. It's an unfortunate fact of life that people rarely act in their own self-interest and are highly susceptible to government/media propaganda. Remember the 70% of Americans who were convinced that Saddam was behind 9/11? These are the morons you are hoping will suddenly be enlightened.

Yes! and it is a valid question.
I really do not know what to say anymore. Is it ignorance runs high?. But it can be cured with some reading and education. Is it arrogance, an extreme misplacement of values, ego, false pride, blinded by misguided emotions? Is it fear, animosity, denial, labeling without looking at content, too many smokes and mirrors, sense of balance lost??? I'm afraid the wake up call would be not a pleasant one.

All one has to do is to follow the money trail and keep an open mind, use common sense, and most if not all answers become clear. Who's name occupies the office is not as important as their actions and results...

Amount of info available prior 9/11?. Take a look at this:

Nothing short of amazing. EVERYTHING and IT MEANS EVERYTHING is under surveillance. Few pages reading and it only scratches the surface.
<<The Warning>> chapter towards the end is pretty telling.....who's watching the watchers?

What do you think?

In the greatest surveillance effort ever established, the US National Security Agency (NSA) has created a global spy system, codename ECHELON, which captures and analyzes virtually every phone call, fax, email and telex message sent anywhere in the world. ECHELON is controlled by the NSA and is operated in conjunction with the Government Communications Head Quarters (GCHQ) of England, the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) of Canada, the Australian Defense Security Directorate (DSD), and the General Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) of New Zealand. These organizations are bound together under a secret 1948 agreement, UKUSA, whose terms and text remain under wraps even today.

The ECHELON system is fairly simple in design: position intercept stations all over the world to capture all satellite, microwave, cellular and fiber-optic communications traffic, and then process this information through the massive computer capabilities of the NSA, including advanced voice recognition and optical character recognition (OCR) programs, and look for code words or phrases (known as the ECHELON “Dictionary”) that will prompt the computers to flag the message for recording and transcribing for future analysis. Intelligence analysts at each of the respective “listening stations” maintain separate keyword lists for them to analyze any conversation or document flagged by the system, which is then forwarded to the respective intelligence agency headquarters that requested the intercept. ...
