As it was reported on the broadcast News that I watch, the program is intended to legitimize the status of these "..working people.." who are already here - for a period of about 3 years - with possible renewals. They came here to "..work.." at jobs where they were wanted - and others won't do; so it sounds like a pretty cost effective sollution to me.

This opportunity would allow them to be protected from usurous SOBs who take advantage of their illegal status and steal from them all the time now. It will also put them properly on the tax rolls, give their kids a shot a decent education, food and healthcare - without the constant fear of deportation, and offer them an opportunity to apply for citizenship. Makes sense to me, which is why the witless whiners will obviously go ape-dungy over it. Ha ha ha ha.

Having grown up with Island, Hispanic and C. A. Indian folks in Central America and the Caribbean; there are a lot of them who are more desirable to have around - based on their religious philosophy, joy of life, traits of hard-work and their basic honesty - than a great number of the bums and do-nothings that are fortunate enough to be born within our borders. If they can be assimilated in an organized and monitored manner, with reasonable checks and balances, I see great value in crushing the underground, profit-based, illegal importation networks who consider them no more than cattle.

They're not a threat to our Union contigent, because they do the work that most Union folks would take lay-off money and welfare for - before stooping to do. The Unions have already proven that they can up-train any current members, since protecting "..lug-nut tighteners.." is no longer viable anyway.

I've been invited to, and eaten meals in, mud huts ( bohios ) in Panama where the food was more palatable and served in nicer company than what I would expect from the don'-wanna-work "..gimme line.." crowd here in the US.

These folks being legitimized in a controlled manner will be a great improvement over the wasteful immigration practices in force today. And, many of these folks would turn in a terrorist or crook in a flash; while many of our gratis American borthers and sisters would "..not want to get involved..".

Sounds like a good policy change to me; which is why it will annoy the "..lefties.." to no end.

John :-)
.

LOL---like this is the first time Buchanan's glass is all empty again. If it was up to him, we would have a 100 foot wall around the USA and you would be buying old Pontiac Star Chiefs for $293,000.
