Hmaly, France, Germany and Russia were for continued, and even stricter sanctions

Only starting in 2002, and only because "stricter sanctions" was a counterproposal to using military force in Iraq. Even in 2000, France and Russia were arguing for lighter sanctions, even lifting them, because of their ineffectiveness except in making the people of Iraq suffer.

Of course, once America kicked Saddam out, France and Russia were right there arguing that sanctions shouldn't be lifted unless it can be "proven" that Iraq has no more WMD. Funny how that never seemed to be a factor to them until after Saddam was relieved of power.

Hey, welcome back.

I am sorry .... I just can't accept that the end justifies the means. America looks the other way as the president and his men lie to the country and the world about the mission the evidence, the motives. I can't overlook abuse of power...it's a dangerous slippery slope. I don't buy for a moment the argument that this was a humanitarian mission. Some of these same guys were arming this man when he was our SOB in the region. I am tired of a country who whores around the world for its material interests which later become honorable causes.

. France, Germany and Russia were for continued, and even stricter sanctions, because it enhanced their image in the arab world, ...

Check your facts. The US repeatedly vetoed efforts to relax sanctions.
