I do not know... I wish I had some influence in BOTH governments... I do not see that happening anytime soon... [do you see scorpions flying ? -g]

I have already mentioned my ideas:

1.- Guest worker program (actually, Don Jorge has taken the first step for that]

2.- A summit between US/Mex government; US/Mex labor leaders; and US/Mex private industry all together in a spirit of co-operation forgetting vote/attention getter bullshit. (in other words run the damned thing like a private corporation facing bankruptcy but with the assets to turn it around)

3. Creation of EXPORT oriented manufacturing zones (in both sides of the border (and NOT exclusively along the Mexican border --but that would be a start--) where tax incentives would prompt economic activity in the area in question and begin achieving a wider focus in exporting American products, using labor from both sides.

4. Curb liability oriented lawsuits (or at least define "limits of awards")

5. Same on the medical insurance field (which will affect worker's benefits.)

6. TRASH workmen's compensation irrational laws...

now...

how about you?

would you trade your gun-toting proposals for some ideas ?

tscht-tscht... -gg

.... The sad reality will be that... for now, the power pendulum is swinging to the right... I do believe Jorge will get re-elected... so more of the same will come... IF Congress is not lost to the Damned.. (excuse me) the Dems. -g then what Reagan was not able to do, may be accomplished and that is TO CURB the damned government spending... I hope so, but then again, politicians are politicians and they get paid by loading the boat.

btw... I do not give a shit how many taxes you collect or how much economic activity you create, if you do not spend WISELY... it does not matter what you do, it is like maintaining a runaway spolied teenager, or divorcing a trophy wife... you are doomed and forever broke --unless you can change your immediate environment.

If the above holds true, then there may come up with some proposals that could be passed and alleviate some of the problems....

unfortunately, all this is near impossible and to add to the pile, the problems are so huge, that even such scenario will not be enough...

am I changing my mind ? no, I just see a window of opportunity for now and I do see the low interest rates environment and immigration situation as a positive rather than a negative... BUT if no logical solutions are implemented...

I have seen this movie before...

so unless you have some mother Theresa inclinations, you better provide some safety nets at the individual level since....

the power pendulum will eventually turn back to the Left... at which time... run for cover mi amigo, taxes more in line with European mindset may be in the horizon.... for now, some of the above conditions may put us in the safe.... for now...

Oh yeah....

Empieza a aprender Español porque todo indica que le van a poner la "J" a Texas otra vez -LOL !
