Hey, I agree with you.

The fundamental problem, imho, is that in democracies, we are basically assuming that the average guy on the street actually understands the issues at stake and knows what is good for him.

I think I read this in a sci-fi book - people who wanted to vote had to undergo periodic tests to see if they knew about current world affairs and presidential candidates' plans for what they will do if they are elected. Those who fail don't get to vote. The idea that EVERYONE would vote was very alien, not to mention insane, to them.

I think it was "Signal To Noise" of Eric S. Nylund, or its sequel, "A Signal Shattered".

I wonder what would happen if that systemm were to be implemented...

What a DUMB way to get things done... very frustrating... I have no idea how politicians can exist... If I were a politician... I would be in jail, as most probably I would have killed one of them morons already... particularly the outrageous liars -ggg

Oh I agree with you. Personally, I would probably go to the press with the inside story (and subsequently get arrested, or worse, found having committed suicide, LOL). I especially stand in awe of all those people in the current administration who actually manage to keep a straight face as Bush pains through one of those rare talks with no script -g-
