I am in complete agreement about cutting spending. Imo, most of our federal taxes are wasted (I worked for Club Fed in two different agencies for 6 years, so have first hand knowledge of this). Very little value received by the taxpayer. Entire agencies need to be eliminated or cut by 70%.

But that being said, can you name some Presidents (republican or democrat) that have passed through substantial spending cuts? I can't think of one that has really taken the axe to the federal government. Even if he tried, it wouldn't get through Congress.

As a practical matter, it is very unlikely that we will see significant spending cuts. Therefore, the only way to deal with the growing deficit is to increase taxes.
