The Chicago suburb of Homewood has a ban on hand guns. Illinois requires gun owners to have a Firearm Owners ID which takes about a month to get. That's the facts, now what happened. An upscale home in Homewood was broken into not long ago. The B&E guy took among other things the BMW SUV which also had the house key on the ring. 5 nights later the home owner was tucking his 2 kids into bed and hears a noise, gets his pistol and finds the B&E guy has brought the BMW back and is in the house and is armed. Owner shoots and disarms the B&E guy and calls the police and gets arrested for having a handgun and no FOID card. The mayor and police chief have been saying he shouldn't have had the gun and would have been better off calling the police.
